History
In 1951, G. Beekenkamp's plant nursery was founded as a 1-man enterprise in Maasdijk. G. Beekenkamp earned his living as a market gardener with a plot of land covering 1.3 hectares.
Within a short time, in October 1951, he switched to the propagation of plant material for cultivators. Three months later, he took on his first employee. The plant nursery developed gradually, with ups and downs. In April 1973, a hurricane swept over the Westland, totally destroying a greenhouse of 5,000 square metres, which had just been completed at the end of 1972. After 22 working days, the company was back in operation and the new greenhouse was ready to be used. Between 1977 and 1987, the plant nursery in Maasdijk grew exponentially to its present size. About 10 years later, in January 1997, Blokker Plantenkwekerij in Lutjebroek was acquired. The idea of decentralised production continued to develop after that, and in December of the same year, the company also bought Novaplant in Rousson.

In the eighties and nineties, Deliflor (then Lyraflor), Beekenkamp Verpakkingen (formerly Beekenkamp Tuinbouwtechniek) and Beekenkamp Ornamentals were added as separate companies, leading to the creation of the Beekenkamp Group.

In 2000, Annie and Margriet Beekenkamp, both daughters of G. Beekenkamp, bought their father's shares and continued the family firm.
