On Wednesday 1 May, the first pile was driven at Beekenkamp Plants’ new construction site. Employees gathered to festively open the construction of the new building. After a motivational speech by An Beekenkamp, the Beekenkamp Group management officially pressed the red button after which the first pile went into the ground.
Beekenkamp Group is building a new 4-hectare site because the current location is outdated. The new greenhouse will be modernised and will offer many advantages in terms of greenhouse and labour technology. There will be new machinery and automation options that will enable even more efficient work. A new press line for producing field vegetables will also be added, allowing plants to be produced even faster. Although the numbers remain the same, this will allow for smoother operations. The greenhouse will also be considerably more sustainable.
Construction company Hofman will build the shed. The current shed is too small for the plant numbers and will be extended to provide more space. Demolition of the current greenhouse will begin at the end of May. Beekenkamp Group expects the new building site to be ready by the end of 2024.
