MAASDIJK – Beekenkamp Plants’ new construction project at Korte Kruisweg in Maasdijk has been successfully completed. The brand-new 4-hectare greenhouse for growing open-grown vegetables was completed within six months. The first vegetable plants are now in the greenhouse and plants have already been delivered from this new production location. Proof of the determination and cooperation that have made this ambitious project a success!

With a new construction project, planning is always exciting and it is often a question of whether the deadline will be met. This was certainly the case during the construction of the new greenhouse for Beekenkamp Plants. The parties involved saw the planning as challenging, with it being labelled ‘unrealistic’ several times. However, thanks to intensive cooperation with the partners involved, success was almost guaranteed. On 1 May 2024, the first pile for the new premises was driven, on 1 June 2024 the parties started demolishing the existing greenhouse and on 1 January 2025 the new greenhouse was put into use.

The past six months saw a number of important milestones: the driving of the first pile, the complete glass sealing of the greenhouse, the completion of the new business premises and the office expansion for Beekenkamp Verpakkingen. Placing the first vegetable plants in the greenhouse with the new fully automatic transport system is the icing on the cake in this string of milestones. On to more!

Sustainability and energy efficiency are high priorities at Beekenkamp Plants. Various developments have been made in these areas. Part of the greenhouse is equipped with a full LED lighting system and gas is no longer used. Instead, heat from other locations is used. In addition, double and partly triple screen systems have been installed that allow fans to bring heat back down from the higher part of the greenhouse.

Beekenkamp Plants is looking forward to a prosperous future and, together with its employees, customers and partners, goes for the best result!
